3Shape Dental System 2020

3Shape Dental System 2020 is being released and includes several updates and new features. Here are some of the highlights.

Direct access to tutorials:

All 3Shape academy tutorials are now directly accessible from inside Dental System. A new button is added near the help icon on every step to allow you to directly access the relevant video.

Gingivator 3.0 (Possibly the greatest name of anything in 3Shape):

Designing gingiva for full dentures is very time consuming, requiring up to 10-15 minutes of design time. With the new Gingivator, the design of anatomically realistic gingiva is faster and simpler. You can use preset values or customize your settings for a more natural, custom appearance.

NEW Denture libraries:

A new library from VITA is available in DS 2020 that is optimized for digital design, and there are improved libraries from Dentsply Sirona and Vertex Dental.

Easier material management:

A new filter makes browsing for materials in the order form easier. It is available for all drop down menus in the Dental Manager order form, providing an easier and better search for material, implant system, manufacturer or external lab. You can type the name or just few letters to narrow down the search. It is also possible to arrange for your favorite materials to appear at the top of the list for quick access.

NEW PLY scans import:

This enables you to use scans from 3rd party intraoral scanners, with all color information transferred into the design software. Eventually the PLY file format may replace the STL file format for 3D printing.

Customize the 3Shape TRIOS® order form specifically to your lab:

This allows you to customize the TRIOS Order Form in your 3Shape Communicate® to include only the materials and indications that your lab offers. This means your accounts only see and order the services and materials that you provide. The customized TRIOS order form is then uploaded into 3Shape Communicate, so that dentists connecting to your lab use the customized form.

Lab Management System Integration:

Starting in May, 2020, Dental System is fully integrated with the following providers: Jenmar, Labtrac, MagicTouch, Protetiko and LabStar. 3Shape TRIOS® orders will also populate the information in both Dental System as well as the Lab Management System.

Bellus 3D Dental Pro Integration:

As a Bellus reseller we couldn’t be happier with this new addition. Bellus 3D is an easy way to capture a 3D facial scan for smile design. The 3D face scan and the intraoral scans are aligned in Bellus3D. The aligned scans are then exported from the Bellus3D app and can be imported into Dental System (2018 and later), using the Additional Scans feature.

These are just a few of the new or updated items that are available in DS 2020. The annual renewal from 3Shape is a pain in the you know what and it is expensive, but they do a great job of updating the software annually. If you have any questions on what is coming in 2020, give us a call.
