Since Sleep Apnea is a potentially life-threatening medical condition, it is important to work as a team to get patients the help they need. One of the ways we can do this is to measure a patient’s night time sleep habits as they pertain to sleep disorders - specifically night time bruxing. And it’s important that the dental profession and dental companies address the parameters surrounding the measurement of masseter muscle activity and the effect it has on occlusion. A monitor with EMG sensors can screen, monitor, measure bruxism, and help to properly titrate appliances.

To learn more, watch the webinar Who Says the Masseter Muscle Doesn't Count? The Importance of Screening with EMG. In this webinar, we discuss all of that plus the pitfalls of the Polysomnogram (PSG) as an indicator of muscle activity, the advantages of a take home EMG device and the simplicity of interpretation for titration of an appliance. Now that Sleep Disordered Breathing and Sleep Apnea topics are a part of every dental tradeshow, Whip Mix wants to be your dental occlusion partner, helping to assess your patient for oral symptoms related to OSA.
